Tony Cunningham NACE CIP Level 3

Consultant | CIP lead instructor

I’m Tony Cunningham. I’ve been active in the industrial coating industry for over 40 years. In 1982 I was invited to participate in the first set of NACE CIP courses in Houston, Texas, and have been involved with the NACE (now AMPP) CIP program ever since. After teaching the program all over the world, I founded a company in the UK to act as the licensee for some NACE programs, but principally CIP. Since then we have trained hundreds of coating inspectors to the high standards of the CIP program.  As a consequence, the CIP program has steadily grown over the years both in the UK and Europe. Our team of UK and Dutch CIP instructors will continue to deliver CIP courses in a professional manner in Newcastle upon Tyne (England) and Aberdeen (Scotland).

I have met many of the participants in UK courses in recent years, and hope to meet many more.

Dave Blackwell Nace CIP Level 3 #14490

Dave Blackwell Nace CIP Level 3 #14490

Consultant | CIP lead instructor

My name is David Blackwell. I spent the first 14 years of my working life as seagoing engineer; an occupation that presents lots of firsthand experience dealing with corrosion and the effects of the environment upon machinery and equipment.

My next role was on dry land working for a company manufacturing specialist repair and protection products. I began as a technical service engineer. A role which took me into many diverse industries recommending solutions to problems of erosion and corrosion of machinery and equipment. Over my 33 years with this company, I occupied many different roles ranging from technical support and technical department management to sales and sales management and for the last dozen or so years held the post of engineering director.

I became a NACE/AMPP level 3 certified coatings inspector in 2007, gave my first lecture as a NACE/AMPP instructor in 2011 and became a Lead Instructor in 2018.

If I had to identify my area of expertise, I think it would be in specialist epoxy, urethane, and acrylic based coatings, for applications in the heavy industries.

Currently I operate my own coatings consultancy in the UK but I am really enjoying working with TCI to actively give something back to the industry that has given me so much over my career. I think it is extremely important to ensure that experience and knowledge are passed on to future generations. This hopefully in a way that inspires enthusiasm and passion for the subject.

Stuart Fitchet Nace CIP Level 3 #22145

Stuart Fitchet Nace CIP Level 3 #22145

Consultant | CIP instructor

My name is Stuart Fitchet. I am an active consultant and managing director of Core-Spec Inspection Services Ltd, and I live in Edinburgh, in the United Kingdom.

The company was established in 2010 by myself and my wife, Catherine after having started out on the tools of the trade over 25 years ago, initially as a blaster/sprayer.

During this period of transition, I have held various paint & coating supervisory positions, gaining a wealth of industrial coatings experience on the way, before making the natural progression from the tools of the trade to becoming a fully qualified Nace (AMPP) Certified Coatings Inspector Level-3.

This career path has provided me with a firm grounding within our industry and serves me well in my roles as a coating inspector out in the field and also as a Nace/AMPP CIP Instructor when in class.

I feel very fortunate to be working within a profession that I thoroughly enjoy, relishing both the challenges and the opportunities to learn something new every day.  After all, every day is a school day in our business.

Being very passionate about giving back to our industry, I look forward to collaborating with our Dutch colleagues both here in the UK and in the Netherlands, delivering the Nace/ AMPP CIP courses to the next generation of coating inspectors.

My name is Paul Almond and am a NACE CIP Instructor.

I live near Newcastle upon Tyne in the UK.

My main experience in the coating industry was working for 35 years for International Paint (Akzo Nobel), a major Global manufacturer and supplier of Marine and Protective Coatings.

I began my career in coatings as a chemist in the laboratories, working on the research and development of new construction and maintenance coatings for onshore and offshore applications.

After 5 years I moved into the technical service department becoming technical service manager.

My role in providing a comprehensive technical service for customers included the use of coating inspection techniques to monitor work in progress, support the introduction of new products and carry out failure analysis. I was also responsible for providing technical advice and support, coating specifications and training.

I enjoy giving something back to our industry and look forward to collaborating with our Dutch colleagues both here in the UK and in the Netherlands, delivering the Nace/ AMPP CIP courses to the next generation of coating inspectors.

Huguette Broers

Huguette Broers

Office manager

My name is Huguette Broers. I am the DCC BV office manager. Allow me to introduce myself;

After having completed secretarial training at the Schoevers training institute I started my career in 1985 in the transport sector where I have worked for a little over 15 years. I started out as a planner and later became an account manager.

In 2001 I started as a secretary for Rotterdam Painting Consultants BV. After having successfully completed my BKB education the activities were primarily focused on handling financial administration.

In 2013 I was part of the start-up of Dutch Coating Consultants BV. Financial administration is still an important part of my daily responsibilities. In addition to that, I also coordinate all office-related activities.

For a multi-tasker like me, working at DCC BV is a joy every day. It is a great company with an excellent work environment and wonderful colleagues.

Bianca Piersma-Van den Brom

Administrative worker

My name is Bianca Piersma-Van den Brom, I am married and the mother of two sons.

I have been employed by Dutch Coating Consultants BV as an administrative worker and I would like to introduce myself;

After having worked in childcare for over 15 years and having experienced all the different aspects of the business, I decided it was time for a new challenge.

I managed to find this challenge at DCC. The world of the “Paint Police” was completely new to me and provided me with the challenge I was looking for. I take care of all the office-related activities together with my colleague Huguette Broers.

With this small group of professional, motivated, and very talented colleagues, I am sure to have a great time at Dutch Coating Consultants BV.
